Christmas Wrapping

In all the full speed ahead that has become the modern Christmas, I think we’ve lost a bit of what it really is meant to be like.  Sure, for folks like me there is the time spent reflecting on the birth of Jesus.  But, even if you’re not a believer?  Maybe Christmas should be slower, quieter, more loving and sharing time with those who warm our hearts best?

Mievielle Christmas Land - It's A Wrap

Christmas Wrapping
by Michael Romani

Something is missing in all of this bustle
Somehow it feels it's one big hustle
The holidays are meant for quiet times
Open fires, warm hearts and easy rhymes

We're not meant to be out shopping
Until all of us feel like dropping
But to cuddle up and talk as we glow
This is the holiday spirit I want to know

Jack Frost nibbles as he's quietly rapping
On the frosted window the snow is tapping
While we keep on wrap, wrap, wrapping
All the while, we're finger tap, tap, tapping

So, let's gather up to decorate the tree
Spending this time, just you and me
Singing songs into each other's eyes
Telling each other truths instead of buying into lies

Christmas carols are best when shared with you
Getting drunk on all those loving things you do
I want to sit with you in front of the fire
And see if we might kindle a bit of joy and desire

Jack Frost nibbles as he's quietly rapping
On the frosted window, the snow is tapping
While we keep on wrap, wrap, wrapping
All the while, we're finger tap, tap, tapping

Father Christmas may deliver goodies on his sleigh
The reindeer might fly around the world before Christmas Day
But that time I spend with you is that everything
That harks this herald and makes me want to sing
