In Remembrance of Notre Dame

In memory of the burning of Notre Dame 04/2019 and as originally posted on my Flickr account:

Paris 1900 - Notre Dame - A Remembrance Of

In Remembrance of Notre Dame
by Michael Romani

Standing there in the center of the ancient city
Gloriously symbolic in its early beloved piety
The Cathedral stands as it has stood through ages
Figuratively and literally in all of France's pages
Central within the circles of European history
Relevant to the grandest and greatest mystery

She has stood the test of centuries in her regal moment
Towering about the foot soldiers as time's true testament
Encapsulating the best and worst of all of our humanity
Aspirational her flourish of imagination and grandiosity
One by one her steps of faith have been quietly taken
Even when burned down, broken and bitterly shaken

Notre Dame remains as to the pillar of France's soul
Down through the ages her resilience does extol
Like a sip of Champagne on this warmish Spring day
There is something in the immortality that won't fade away
Yesterday, today and for every certainty of tomorrow
She remains the bringer of dreams and forgiver of sorrow
