Day 26 of Na/GloPoWriMo 2019 is day to write a poem that uses repetition as it’s device. I think maybe that’s something that I don’t do a lot of in my writing. The leaders of this poetry session declare this as a way of sealing in a reader’s interest. I suppose song lyrics support that premise. Then I think of the thousands of years of successful poetry that doesn’t use this and suddenly, I’m okay with my poems again. .. Just sayin’
The Price of Magic by Michael Romani Some things are trite and trivial Other things seem best in serial When these things bear repeating However deep in their seating We find ourselves baring that repeating Knowing all our time is simply fleeting Every use of magic has its price Used magic has its price Regardless of device Every use of magic has its price There in the essence of every incantation Properly influencing every recitation There in every word of every utterance Whether dashed in fancy or in governance We find ourselves baring that repeating Knowing all our time is simply fleeting Every use of magic has its price Used magic has its price Regardless of device Every use of magic has its price In every bit of human interaction There lies a base need for satisfaction Be it one of parliamentary parlance Or the heart's desire for true romance We find ourselves baring that repeating Knowing all of our time is simply fleeting Every use of magic has its price Used magic has its price Regardless of device Every use of magic has its price Life's cocktail carries the kick of complexity Played out best doubled handed with dexterity But in the end we find the die is cast In knowing that even magic doesn't last We find ourselves baring that repeating Knowing all of our time is simply fleeting Every use of magic has its price Used magic has its price Regardless of device Every use of magic has its price (c) April 26, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
