Today’s world is perceived as fraught with danger. Linguists have determined that the more risk we believe society is in, the more we increasingly decline in adulting and the more we use words like “adulting”…
Adulting Conversation by Michael Romani It's a twix of a turn As we live and learn That words change with time As does the world of rhyme When the future felt like hope We'd let out the rope Bu, now it's not insulting To say some would rather not be adulting Backdoor fixes can be friends With the best interest they intend It's really not a danger To make language a bit stranger As the demands of our day Find their un-intrusive way Into the words we daily use So long as they don't confuse Here's the deal It's about keeping it real Going beyond our hunches Instead of throwing verbal punches That's the risk To all of these tics The purpose of communication Is best met with fascination With each new introduction As we greet these new constructions And these become the way we talk Best accepted not met with a balk (c) May 4, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
