Cowpoke Promenade (Reflections II – Her Side)

Sometimes it can be a little much to have to lasso your cowpoke she said…. I should just admit here, this is based on a bit in a movie, not reality.  No actual cowpokes were  corralled in the writing of this poem….

Cowpoke Promenade (Reflections II)
by Michael Romani

She has given her life
Just trying to break even
She wants to be his wife
And needs something to believe in

Too many nights
Spent on the run
Now she's trying to get it right
She knows he's the one

The saloon girl dances
A devil's promenade
Hoping for true romance
As the coyote sings its serenade

It's unsafe to love
Taken with speed
But the stars are above
And he's planted his seed

What's a girl to do
With her dignity
From her point of view
He's given up his liberty
