Our children live in interesting times. It’s a blessing and a curse. As a father, I think it’s my duty to try to teach my daughters to look for the positive and the good and to seek solutions instead of seeing only concerns and problems. Still, I would be amiss if I didn’t see the angst this world must cause.
The Angst of Generation Z by Michael Romani For me, Generation X had enough complexity But, what can one say for Generation Z There in all of the scandals openly spoken Is that the whole of the system is broken Obsessing over the specter of the future Is the ghost of a chance on might nurture Any sense of meaning out of adolescent anxiety For the weary ranks facing relentless superficiality Restrained by sanity, some form a bubble In doing their best to stay out of trouble But in doing so, they put into deference All of the many things needed to experience In turn from moments of sadness and anarchy To quieter shades of simple integrity The curse of living in interesting times Is the drive by motion of emotional rhymes Found in words better less said And unconventional thoughts in the head That lead to the feelings of growing older In the heat of so many passions that smolder (c) May 26, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
