Meant To Savor

Does anyone else here really love sushi?  Silly question?

The Waterfall Cafe - A Discussion of Splitting Sushi

Meant To Savor
by Michael Romani

Two parts
One part art
And presentation
The other
That of flavor
Memories of the heart
The secret part
Both memory and fascination
Each reminding of the other
Each part that I savor

Vinegar rice
And bits of fish
Banded with seaweed
Blended in flavor
An occasional special treat
Bamboo flute adds to ambience
For this Japanese dish
A special treat I need
To enjoy and savor
It keeps me up on my feet

Letting me know somehow
That I will survive
All of life's harsh cruelty
All that keep coming my way
A moment that I can relax in
Holding close to all memories now
Of struggling just to keep alive
Remembering the day life lost its novelty
And all the days leading to today
Knowing that now I am ready again

To believe in things like new love
To believe again that life is right
Each bite of sushi serves to remind me
Of better times once and those to come
All of this meant to savor
As I live my prayer to the above
I keep these thoughts and you in sight
Keeping in mind both love and duty
Holding to my best and then some
All of this truly meant to savor
