Isn’t it funny how differently two people can see the same events?

Seemed So Easy

It seemed so easy
Putting band aids on the pain
Ignoring the tear drops
Though they fell like rain

It was there
In all of your imperfections
Washed away with the beer
In all the subtle contradictions

These made you amazing
So you seemed to me
I felt my heart racing
Deep inside of me

All of your uniqueness
Was so charming to me
I would too often speak this
Our differences were disarming to me

In all of my jokes you were annoyed
Little observances to fill my void
While you shone like my star
I'd just strum on my guitar

Strumming happily along
Note for note, song after song
How was I to know, it felt so strong,
That I had got it all so very wrong

I always wanted to take
Just one more look at you
So very real and never fake
I just wanted to take one more look at you

I kept on falling
Over and over again
I'd hear your voice calling
And I was falling in love with my best friend
