Only Miracles Can

There are so many miracles that surround us and are even part of us that we have come to take them for granted.  I love when I am reminded of this.

Only Miracles Can
by Michael Romani

There's an alien world
Below our unsure feet
Toes stretched then curled
As we and darkness meet

Spun around in disorientation
Underground caves tricky in initiation
Caverns and cervices to explore
Descending down into the more

The more that is an alien environment
Where a bacterium soup has leant
Greater understanding than we have known
Here below us and above us shown

Where even moons hold water
And plumes of hot water spray out farther
Right before us as we turn to face
The liquid outreaches of outer space

We search high and low for life
Knowing our scratched surfaces cannot suffice
There in each fragile moment since life began
And nothing has become the something only miracles can
