Deliberate deceptions told in truth
Are the moments that keep us in our youth
Sauces of life shared in pot and in heart
Are their own blessings from the start

A picnic for just us, we two
The best of life shared with you
It's a very practical kind of chemistry
Love and food create our memories

Stubborn as we are in blindness
What is life felt without kindness
There on the surface we scratch the itch
Soldiering on past what makes us twitch

It's the maddening things that urge
Us past differences in riding the surge
All the dreadful things putting us to test
Are that which most often brings our best
