Halloween Poem #23:
Let Your World End by Michael Romani Mother, can you forgive your son For all of the ungodly things That I have self-righteously done And for all of the pain that it brings As you call me out by my given name You're looking into my sins from antiquity Feeling all of your mother's shame As you look upon my iniquity With that incessant rap, rap, rap From your cane upon the floor I feel that dreaded tap, tap, tap As I open up my mind's door For all my sins are like a jaded rainbow As all of the colors of darkness run together Into a cascade of word like Edgar Allan Poe I doubt that it could get much better Mother, can you forgive your son For all the ungodly things That I have self-righteously done And for all the pain that it brings As you call me out by my given name You're looking into my sins from antiquity Feeling all of your mothers shame As you look upon my iniquity Mother, let your world come to end Allowing the world of the night to be seen It's time for the dark new world to begin Reading metaphors into our dark dreams Walk with me this eternal mile To meet the infernal prince of radiance All resistance, you see, is futile The ebb tide flows at the hand of providence Mother, can you forgive your son For all the ungodly things That I have self-righteously done And for all the pain that it brings As you call me out by my given name You're looking into my sins from antiquity Feeling all of your mother's shame As you look upon my iniquity Blind your eyes to what it is that I see As noxious fumes burn with the flesh of humanity The drop of blood, bleed from wretched humanity As I implore you to take my hand despite my vanity Thinking thoughts of the dreaded dead place Shadowed by fear felt as warm in its embrace Remaining a faithful acolyte until the very end Walk this darkness with me, my soul lost friend (c) October 23, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
