Halloween Poem #28
In the Tall Grass by Michael Romani It's there in the tall grass Out in the muck and mire That tall, tall grass That feeds on your desire Never letting you pass Out there in the tall, tall grass Until you learn the secret Until you learn the truth It's on you'll not regret A saving lesson from our youth One worth keeping not to forget That saving lesson from our youth It takes just one unnatural act Simple as it is and always will be Coming at us as a natural fact Just takes a little loving sympathy It only takes one selfless act And that's the truth as a natural fact It's there in the tall grass Out in the muck and mire That tall, tall grass That feeds on your desire Never letting you pass Out there in the tall, tall grass The truest love will lay its life down So that others find salvation It's true not a bluff from a jester's crown A sacred heart given to contemplation Is the secret way out And keeper of our best redemption Life spent in a cycle of grief Searching for our own way out Never getting any such relief Caught in paths of fear and doubt Until we learn to sacrifice Nothing else will ever suffice It's there in the tall grass Out in the muck and mire That tall, tall grass That feeds on your desire Never letting you pass Out there in the tall, tall grass That's the puzzle that needs learned To truly live you must find out What can never be given but discerned Beyond all the fears and doubt There is the simple act of forgiveness To find our way to outlive this One man learns that to live you must give And as token of his past he lays on the ground Having finally learned how a real man lives Satisfied in the comfort he has finally found Giving himself so that the one he loves is alright Letting go of what he wants to hold on tight (c) October 28, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
