A poem in gratitude #17:
Thankfulness For the Season by Michael Romani Memories of letters written By the likes of me and you To a certain man in red Depending on how written Always brought a toy or two Thoughts of this dance inside my head In this well lettered story There is seldom a given thank you But then again, who is looking for glory Just a thought of kindness would do Somehow its these things that give us meaning And the essence of magic into our being Thankful for the challenges along the way The sorts of things seen as adversity Eyes popping in a thousand shades of gray As we take life in all of its immensity Its all in how we choose to see But, the best presents are received in humility In this grown up world of resentment Too often filled with anger and spite It takes good will to find loving contentment So desperately needed to shine its light These are the things of absolute brilliance That gives to each of us our best resilience Coming to us in this time of year As we lift our cups filled with holiday cheer Giving our spirits over to tidings of joy Little rays of happiness given with each toy Bestowed on each of us with hearts of gratitude This is the thankfulness of our right attitude So as we turn to each in our loving family This looking back over the passing years Let our memories be of love and good company Remembering collected smiles and not tears For this then is the way of blessed love Our truest connection to God above (c) November 17, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
