In memory of my sister, Michele. One of the most cherished parts of my life.

I didn’t miss your birthday this year

I just silently did my best to hide my tears

Stumbled on your photos this day

This thanksgiving day

And thought to myself back on all we had

So many memories more happy than sad

You taught me so much as we grew older

You into a beauty queen; me into some kinda soldier

I am missing you this Thanksgiving Day

No one could have asked for a better sister to love

And I know that you’re looking down from above

Hopeful that I might become yet the little brother

You’d be proud of, though I know you’d never want another

I miss you so much, Michele, so do so many

Of so many happy, worthy memories, I have plenty

But, what I don’t have is those moments of blessed company

You were my sister, my best friend, mentor, my dearest family
