December 8th is set aside by some and somewhat unofficially as National Brownie Day!  That’s alright by me.  When I was a kid I always thought brownies and chocolate chip cookies should be their own separate food group with still another set aside for bacon… Yes, I know.. all bad ideas… but oh so good tasting. 🙂

Between A Cookie and A Cake

The day is coming to and end
And, yes, I know it's getting late
With a new day just around the bend
And still this poem would not wait

You see, I think that it's very fine
That today's homage is to a favorite of mine
There between a cookie and cake
Is a tasty bit of chocolate waiting for me to take

Just another bite of, smooth of silk
Still, I can't resist this along with milk
Just the right sort of almost confection
That is amazingly close to baked perfection

Soon my head will be against a pillow
And yet with another bite, I know I'll owe
A dream against that soft as downy
Of hot fudge sundae of another huge brownie

There's no counting calories in our sleep
Besides the counting would go far too deep
Best just to get on out of my dreaming way
I'll just work out harder in the coming day
