December 11th is International Mountain Day!! So you know.. don’t go fly a kite.. there’s gotta be a kite day right?  Instead maybe either really climb a mountain or dream about doing that?

Extreme relief and spectacular scenery
Not so much for its resplendent greenery
But round this mountain of spoken mystery
There is much awe inspiring and legendary

It's maw is deeper than the Grand Canyon
With an expanse that stretches on and on
Often compared to a Himalayan relief
This is a place of sacred beauty's belief

From the distance, it's white crowned peak
Is surely worth the journey to quietly seek
It's somewhere there beyond the first snow drift
And cozied into the cotton candy cloud rift

It's far off finger beckons to our destiny
This British Columbian mountain of mystery
Offers to all climbers it's majestic embrace
Written across it's dramatically chiseled face

With pen to parchment, the dreamers tell the tale
Of this mountain queen whose conquest would prevail
In many the adventuring soul's rugged bit of heart
Just waiting to climb to heights from bottom's start

Her allure tugs deeply in the hearts in sharp descent
The many weary travelers who dream the summit's ascent
Push the limits of reason and caution this is agreed
And still the mountaineers will always choose to proceed
