This poem was meant for December 19, 2019. This is, among other observances, National Emo Day.. So Happy that… In my own confessional, I am struggling a bit these last few days with my upcoming birthday, Christmas almost here and the resounding silence of the absence of my little girls echoing in my heart and mind to the point that it’s driven me to my knees in sorrow. The darkness is closing in to the point where I can barely breathe. Sort of fitting for emo day right? Anyhow

Ruined Absolution by Michael Romani From beneath the bangs Of her long jet black hair Her wanting smile hangs As she tells me without care Of how with her taste for ink She's taking back her Sundays Rather she should feel than think Sinfully loving in a thousand ways There is a structure in The way life wears it thin Given in emotional expression In an escape from our compression Some find it inspirational I hear it borne as confessional Tight tee shirts and skinny jeans Worn in the angst of us human beings The world becomes a beautiful place When we're no longer afraid to embrace The pain that hides behind our pride Still taking it all in our best stride Life it seems is a chemical romance And I'm no longer afraid to die Falling in love at a single glance Do it or die, we'll never question why Emotionally fraught and introspective Seldom held anywhere near contemplative Its the burn of hearts worn on sleeve hack When tenderness leavens the sonic attack Exchanging the sighs of yesterday's violins In place of the pounding savage violence We know that the nothing of something feels good And that life will never be Hollywood (c) December 19, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
