Today is both National Call A Friend Day and National Chocolate Candy Day!  In honor of this, to paraphrase a military tradition, ‘eat them if you got ’em’ and call a friend if only to tell that person or persons that you care!

Ring, Ring Rings the Phone

Christmas Day has past by three
And I'm alone sitting quietly
Having just ate a coconut curry
Certainly in less than a hurry

I get your text that you received
A bigger box of chocolate than conceived
Would I call you so that you might share
Taking this moment to say that we care

It is so pleasant to hear your voice
One that I'd never want to lose by choice
All the days and nights that we have spent
Hours seemed like minutes wherever the seconds went

Would that I could be, I know that I should be
And know that you know I would if I could be
Standing there picking chocolate squares
Looking at odd shapes and taking sweet dares

There maybe isn't a word for us in the dictionary
Two chocolate bound lovers of coco confectionery
But, soon the seconds spent in sheer happiness
Become the minutes than hours of needed bliss

It is so very good to hear tonight your voice
A voice that I would never, ever lose by choice
Even if it as just as suddenly realized as it seems
It's only in my imagination and then in my dreams
