A poem written for my lady love in thoughts of her as I have spent time away today reflecting on the time passages and changes to all of our lives since this pandemic has begun.

Desiree

Looking at you gives me butterflies
A smile at the love in your eyes
Fallen in love so completely and fast
I pray to God that this will last

Your heart shines so bright
Like a windowed candle in my night
Bringing me to the best of me
You are my heart's desire and destiny

When I hold you, I hold my dreams
Day by day, making it as real as it seems
You are my loving Desiree
My forever girl until the end of my days

Two hearts put through life's wringer
And still it's my soul on your finger
We spoke of everything in 12 hours conversation
Enough to know you are my final destination

The whisper is that love is blind
I can only prayer we are always kind
Since our first night together
I've believed this can only get better

When I hold you, I hold my dreams
Day by day, making it as real as it seems
You are my loving Desiree
My forever girl until the end of my days

Despite all obstacles and come what may
None of these will ever get in the way
At least, that is, not for long
I know my heart's choice and where I belong

This our hearts and this is our souls
Deeply driven almost not in our control
Moving forward in the right direction
You are my deepest love connection
