Another inspired by the blues I listened to on my road trip today. I have to say, while there are scenic road trip guides, this is the first time I’ve driven the beautiful country roads of Morgan and Monroe Counties in Indiana. I had never even heard about how beautiful the spaces between the nature preserves are. If you get a chance, you should drive them. Even the gravel and dirt passages were utterly amazing.
The Mystery of Crow
by Michael Doyle
How then does one even begin
Perhaps in remembering back to when
That is the when of the meeting of crow
And how the groove was stolen from Smokey Joe
There on the mountain that changed
On the path that somehow rearranged
That sparkle of something from nothing
Until that sparkle outshone everything
A songbird just outside the window
In life's allusion lived within a shadow
And orange oriole blossoms into crow of night
Self assured, crow weaves its dark delight
Crow offers his bangles of divine mastery
As it soars through the pages of blues history
There it is that it begins in that whirlwind
With rhythm and passion dancing as friends
Sugar cane memories passing by
While the crow flies on high
It's a Carolinian sort of soul shake
As life offers up the purity of heartbreak
