Why is destruction and all that so popular as the way to express grievances that do need to be addressed?
Build Up, Don't Tear Down by Michael Doyle We should be building up All for a drink from the winner's cup We shouldn't be tearing down Statues to the fallen ground We should not be burning down Nor should we be turning down Any of that solid wall of sound Speaking truth to what we've found The feelings rise as we stand together Be it in stormy times or good weather The record of all of our history Makes it plain and not a mystery That when we destroy the economy We find ourselves equal in misery Except that is all the more tougher And living become all the more rougher As we attempt to sing for our supper In times made worse as we suffer There are multitude of issues of complexity That need and must be addressed appropriately We don't elevate anyone by burning down the neighborhood I would think this a thing easily understood Only love itself can put an end to hate Please believe when I say it's not to 'wait' But to embark on a path of pure construction And not continue the path of society's destruction (c) June 26, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
