I Wanted To...

I wanted to reach up to the heavens
And pull down the stars down close
Just so they could shine on you

I wanted to be the one who makes life
Something beautiful and magical
Just so that you would smile

I wanted to be the one who 
Could help you smile and laugh
Just to have your laughter

I wanted to be your superman
So that you had someone to believe in
Just so you'd know your heart is safe

Instead, I am as mortal
As it seems is every other man
And still, I give you my promise

That if you might love me forever
I will give my devotion to you
If only you promise your love and be true

My only wish is to be 
The man who is there for you
Maybe I could hold you close as my love

If only your eyes could see
All of the smiles you have brought
You would know that you are my treasure

Each night that I fall asleep
I find that you are my dream
Believing as I do in all that you are

...This is my of world of constant wonder
A light on the hearth's fire
Burning in my heart's desire every night
