Na/GloPoWriMo #6: Setting Fires To Feel Joy
by Michael Doyle

I set fires to feel joy
It's just one of those tricks
That I employ -
I ate my twin inside the womb
Not being malicious, but...
Just to have more elbow room

They say,.. and maybe rightly so
That something is not quite right
If I'd really done it, it wouldn't be right
It was just a couple of lines in a book
But, they were worth the smile
If these made you look -

Instead, I spent the day traveling
Photographing as the day was unraveling
Into adventures with my daughters
Lincoln's Boyhood Home and a waterfall
At Hemlock Cliffs as I recall
This hour finds me a weary father...

Still, I found myself in need
Of writing a responsive poem
That others might want to read
When along came these two lines
Seeming nothing short
Of a wordsmith's verbal gold mines
