Na/GloPoWriMo #25:Pieces d'Occasion
by Michael Doyle
Every day has its celebration
When approached with fascination
Given with grace and latitude
Grateful to be alive is not a platitude
In a world spinning the right direction
With enough intimacy to make connection
To know my daughters are alive and well
That they will live to tell their tale
Even as the oldest tells me of changes to my voice
And how it is that the vaccination taken by choice
Has brought back the cough I once had
From sarcoidosis and that it makes her sad
So, I tell her yet another bad daddy joke
As she grimaces and I again quietly choke
Still, we are all standing on our feet
To this old heart that is good enough and sweet
I offer my praise for today and every day
We ae on this side of the ground, able to make our way
