Is Reverence So Alien?
by Michael Doyle
And there it is again
Stated with righteous persistence
Trust is the necessary bond
Behind peaceful coexistence
Too may ills bleed from greed
Arising in forms of aggression
Peace is easy enough to heed
Where love answers the questions
Conflict splinters away all unity
Where negativity has come to rule
You might call it somehow serendipity
When life takes us to school
As we find it hard to believe in anyone
It's hard to have faith in redemption
After all the evil this world has done
Yet, we might find peacefulness in contemplation
If we keep the light inside burning bright
Despite the darkness's vapid consumption
And to our beliefs we cling on hard and tight
Waiting for goodness to find its way to resumption
