May It Come Easy (The Promise of Turkey)
by Michael Doyle
In affection and camaraderie
We wish in sincere empathy
And with just a trace of sympathy
That with life, may it come easy
Change is the constant in all of life
Sometimes there is peace; sometimes strife
Though the scenes may be inclement
Each turn we turn, is kept in its element
A nation takes its change in uncertainty
As a lesson having some sense of urgency
That we all hope, that it may yet come easy
Yet, this is seldom the track of history
Lived as a neighbor stuck as it is in the middle
With the chance for escape being precious little
As days are quickly sipped with a strong dark coffee
Sweet as love, poured so that it may come easy
