Benign Neglect
by Michael Doyle
There is a benign neglect
Behind "with all due respect"
That cannot be missed
Even when sealed by a Judas kiss
Passions passed down by generation
Skills kept in veneration
The wrong path with correct conclusion
Still feels like it is mass confusion
Half-remembered, glanced at faces
Caught in slight by life's traces
Holds the strength of guarantees
In knowing the ways of life's uncertainties
This guilt of shame leads to crying
To think of things that feel like dying
Yet, we push on forward to go on
Battling to the end of humanity gone
