Comfort Zone Christianity
by Michael Doyle
It's always seemed to lightly
How we fail to take things rightly
In our comfort zone Christianity
Failing to take on things needed by you and me
To the best of our capacity
We take up baptism in accountability
Repentance to the God who walks among us
In the sacredness we know just because
We need to take on the robes of immersion
A measure of weeding away the chaff in conversion
Putting away the ways of the world to follow
Where only those who hold to the sacred can go
Come make your needed recommitment
Into the ways of holy devotion in this sacrament
Holy angels sing over us before we are born
Now this is the day to awaken in this morn
Beginning as it is the never ending
Reborn not for comfort but in service not pretending
Giving our selves to take up the holy yoke
By reverently taking on the words the Lord has spoke
