Home For the Win
by Michael Doyle
The most important place to win
Is in our home; every now and then
To be the parents that we wish to be
Living in every thoughtful possibility
It's not about being perfect but present
To declare the truth wisely as if Heaven sent
For parents to do this, we must start to train
Ourselves in references lived within each refrain
Righteous parenting is considered in every step we take
And is to help our children in the life they'll make
Bringing the gift brought through living health
That involves us greater than all other wealth
Softening hearts with every word that we say
Focusing on eternity and just the events of the day
We do our best to focus on things eternal
And keeping our children from facing the infernal
We must practice diligently our best Jesus walk
That sets an example far beyond the words we talk
Solidly living out our faith as our foundation
And living lives that require no need for explanation
This is a battle that begins on our well-worn knees
And doing life effectively and living within authority
Anointed to play out the grace that is needed
We keep on our holy path with God duly heeded
We are committed to our walk beyond our mistakes
Enduring and learning from all of our hear beaks
As we speak life over our children in all we see
Leaning on their visions and dreams of possibility
Being a parent is a life of apology and love
Learning and changing for the better under Heaven above
We need this blessing spoken over our lives to be
The encouragers reaching for every possibility
Every child is unique in what and who they are
And unlike cookie cutters, we must treat them like stars
As for our home, we shall serve the Lord as we should
Together is the better of the life that we would
If we are to reach the dreams within our hearts
We must grab it with our open hands from the start
Willing to be the ones who dares to walk in love
And taking our best lessons from up above
