The Fight For Nobility

The Fight For Nobility
by Michael Doyle

To fight for nobility
Often causes many to lose
In life's lack of sensibility
Which comes though we refuse

The Spanish Inquisition
Had its inglorious power
That it used without hesitation
To rule any given hour

Madmen and poets
Have much in common
Even when they don't know it
Each confused by prevailing in

The question is not why
Each of has never lived
Everyone is born to die
But let each of us have lived

In the moments we live
Let us be noble and true
Despite all that life might give
We can rebuild the world, me and you

We can live for nobility
Despite what poses for truth
This world in its brutality
Can be the dreams of our youth

In the end, when death comes
The knights will finally live
The truth that we might all become
If, in our lives, we might truly give

The mirror reveals our true reality
Seen plainly as life is true
There is only the grasp at nobility
This is the best of me and of you

The judges of the deadly inquisition
Strike the fool for desiring to believe
That we might shape our destinations
When the world cures broken dreams of desire

Idle talk in life at its best
Yet, we must dare to still dream
The proverbs have been passed to test
And dreams are only as real as these seem
