Seven Ways of Living A More Godly Life
by Michael Doyle
Taking and saving a life surrendered from sin
Following God's will and starting once again
Sanctification is the life's journey we travel
Never worried for our future; assured we will prevail
The first habit is to keep in constant prayer
From the early morning to night, without compare
Prayer is love for God expressed every day
A sort of holy conversation, active in every way
The greatest accomplishments begin on one's knees
Ensuring all we do well for God is something to please
Our God; this is the beginning of our faith and trust
As we accept God's sovereignty as we know that we must
We know that God is in charge of our souls
Leaning-in, in our understanding that God is in control
Worry only leads to evil-doing and our personal wrongs
Our trust in God's care is where we fully belong
This intimacy is our personal and holy relationship
And as such it is the walk of our rightful worship
We must keep these things constant on our meditation
Clearly thought over in our joyful contemplation
Thoughts and questions are raised in conversation
Focusing on God and not on our frustrations
But instead walking God's word we've come to know
All the rightful things for life and not just show
If we do these things in truly conformed obedience
We bring His commandments alive in their resilience
Putting aside the world to walk in pure righteousness
We are the children of God in all of our faithfulness
These habits are kept best through constant repetition
And meant to be practiced with ceaseless dedication
These habits must be kept and increased with dependence
Knowing that the Lord's path is not one of independence
The Holy Spirit must be imbued with the fullest power
Indwelling in the soul throughout all our hours
All of God's promises are fulfilled under His seal
This becomes believed in our daily moments we think and feel
In each dilemma, we must seek and follow God's will
Regardless of any quibbles that we might ever feel
We know that when we walk from God's good path
We fall and are judged within the power of the Devil's wrath
