Sometimes Anyway

Dya's Southern Twilight
Sometimes Anyway
by Michael Doyle

Good food like gumbo is hard to replace
It opens people up and puts a smile in place
While a child makes a wish on the evening star
A wished upon wish just might take her far

But even the best sort of inspiration
Still takes hard work and dedication
As she gets older, every penny finds its way
To count toward that faraway sort of day

Down on the bottom of the mighty Mississippi
Lays New Orleans as a magical river city
Rich and poor alike hold onto their dreams
And some of these come true in New Orleans

Order up of pancakes as a Mardis Gras surprise
As the magic of moments opens a dreamer's eyes
A sugar coated gambler puts the money down
As the king of the ball puts on his crown

The one thing better than dreams is love
As the dancers waltz under the stars above
Making the taking closer every single day
As fairy tales come true, sometimes anyway
