Another Verb Spoke
by Michael Doyle
Heaven help us for promises made
When we are feeling ignorant and afraid
Though it is that we respect God's might
We must not fear that God will smite
The things we do in ignorance and confusion
Knowing His rest carries our absolution
The superstitions held are tall as mountains
That Prometheus climbed to find immortality's fountain
Mankind tells itself necessary covering lies
As our hearts try to hide the silence from our eyes
Yet, some unpleasant truths must be told
For the last of our silence is our souls sold
For the thirty pieces of silver on which we stumble
As humility falls into the world as it crumbles
Our minds never stop; running for bore though broke
As each of us become ye another verb spoke
Our minds are engaged in universal games
Calling on each of God's holy and unholy names
Seeking after truth regardless of what we find
We search around on learning we must leave this world behind
We make our demands, no longer willing to implore
Breaking down the locked doors, free to explore
And unwilling to accept ignorance that we know to be untrue
This is the adventure that will leave marks by me and you
No one should die before knowing life's meaning
To die before then is to fail as a human being
Some are willing to give all to become a beacon of light
It's only anything that causes our fear of being right
Truth in light comes horrifying and frightening
As the searching mind seeks its enlightening
The questing mind seeks its path of investigation
As it searches for the path toward eternal resurrection
We know there are consequences to man's impertinence
As we try to forge resurrected life in all its importance
We think ourselves new gods seeking for man's new destination
And deem ourselves responsible to find our own resurrections
The search becomes the enigmatic riddle that has no negative
At least not to those who seek with us instead of being reactive
Such answers are banned precisely because these are true
With God's help then, there is yet work to do
