Held Like A Dream…Let Go

The Pond - Tiny Dancer
Held Like A Dream...Let Go
by Michael Doyle

Life can make me weary
Dropping me down until I'm teary
Clinging to the edges as we sail into the night
It's as if we only have lanterns for light

After the day's journey, makes us tire
Come warm your feet by the fire
I am haunted by the memory
Of what all my life has meant to me

The blood on my hands tells me why
Life became a case of do or die
Taking that ferry to the other side
I run from my past and my wounded pride

Her beauty comes to me like moonlight
A vision of beauty in that dark night
And I loved her to the depths of my eyes
Her memory lingers in the tears in my eyes

Yesterday seems like a million years ago
As I travel onward and let my past go
I remember how I used to hold her like a dream
I remember how I used to hold her like my dream
