Cracking Hearts Into Holiness
by Michael Doyle
The temptations that we face
Are common to others as we embrace
God's family, and begin to share
This walk of love in all that we care
Indifference and hurt build the walls
That hardens us, until we recall
Our need to renew our daily walk
It emanates in each of us as we talk
That as vessels of clay, spoiled and rebuilt
By the potter's hands, it's revealed
And illustrated in ways we can understand
The journey of God that is already planned
By God, we are shaped and formed in our hearts
To become among the best of God's precious art
Formed from this sacred Eden's good clay
As God created mankind from Earth that day
God formed us physically and also as spiritual
Beings meant to cultivate God's habits as habitual
Yet still, God provided each of us with free will
We remain malleable by God in every aspect of detail
It's the if of the then that requires humility
The faithfulness of a mustard seed brings divinity
Into the moments of life among even the least of mankind
That is except for those who are hardened and blind
The heart of Christ bleeds and cries out for mankind
Seeking the redemption of even those who are blind
Because of this, we should keep pliable to His ways
If we are to live out the best of our mortal days
It's a struggle of faith that begins with history
Yet the miracles shown speak past any mystery
God's promises to humanity have always been here
As His works move us from the here to the there
It's the daily lives of us that become set in routines
That become traps of comfort that are self-sufficient as seen
We need to shake ourselves out of the web of comfort zones
And learn to keep in mind that we don't walk life alone
Surrender, not knowledge, reveals our days of morality
Past the blind spots of life into true spirituality
These are the necessary steps that create transformation
Necessary to walk among the best of God's creations
It starts with the conviction that leads to repentance
In a world that can be hard and often relentless
We learn to soften our hearts to conformance with God's ways
This then leads us to our best and holiest days
