To Walk That Walk

Daydream Believer - Christmas Won't Find This King Baroque
To Walk That Walk
by Michael Doyle

As a fractured soul in need of grace
I know where I belong; I know my place
I walk my love as best that I can
As my heart keeps God's commands

God helps us to reach a better place
Giving us this home within His embrace
As we live to grow into the fixed definition
Regardless of our starting condition

It's the finished work on the bloody cross
That brings us to abundance, not loss
Lawlessness brings its brokenness
Regardless of our outspokenness

We must understand the consequence
As we live our lives' passing sins
God knows of our bruised electric slide
We cannot hide it behind our pride

We need to live to God's purposes for us
Keeping the faith and walking love because
Of the reasons that we find in our creation
Whatever our purposes are in their variation

It's our transgressions that come to tell
Why our fallen natures find it hard to fail
In the end, we don't find Jesus; He was never lost
Instead, He came to pay our full cost

For even those of us who only serve as the example
Of having failed so much that we prove solely ample
In proving our flesh might somehow always do wrong
But when we humble ourselves, we find that we belong

We need to check our confidence to learn to grow
This is the Biblical truth for us to live by and know
The broken vessels we are must give in and surrender
To the word of God whose love proves warm and tender

As we exchange our fates even in our fall from grace
To return to the everything of God's forgiving embrace
We find our way and finally manage to move forward
As in our forgiveness, we somehow move closer toward

Those things that will bring about our healing
Instead of being sent into the ungodly reeling
We must work the work that makes us grow strong
To find our place in the kingdom where we belong

Loving God, we try to keep His commandments
Knowing our place at His side is permanent
Step-by-step, we learn to do more than talk
When all we need to do is walk that walk
