In Plain View (Minding Business)

In Plain View (Minding Business)
by Michael Doyle

In our efforts and in our spaces
We work hard to separate our traces
Minding our business in all we do
The relevance comes openly into view

The Bible opens with God's creation
In page after page of fascination
Nothing was formed into things beautiful
Until on the seventh day, He found this wonderful

Humanity was created in God's image and direction
That in the garden, Adam and Eve worked in perfection
Only to fall; still, work is not any kind of curse
But instead, a blessing told with every passing verse

We, too, as their children, must learn who we truly serve
Thankful for our lots in life are such as we deserve
All must be done to honor Jesus in all our living days
Bearing consistent reflection in all of our ways

Humanity was created for God's own good purposes
And we are to provide our talents and our services
To co-create in God's wonderous and holy name
With God's love, we are to do the same

Changing our assignment with sincerity
To take each task with our full integrity
Doing all with humility, faithful as we do
Speaking and doing all for God in open view

Concealing nothing but doing all with love
Always showing and living the ways from above
Our lives might be the only representation
Of godliness seen and lived up to in expectation

In all, this, we learn to change our purpose
In all we say and do, through our skills and service
The work we do is not only to meet our needs
But also to be the example made by our deeds

Through our work, we grow into maturity
And by our growth, we build our legacy
There can be no greater mission that we give
Then, by our every moment teaching how to live

We grow into giving our lives as charity
Providing the example of living generosity
Giving to others while we do for one another
Looking beyond the numbers to our sisters and brothers

Being that agent of change to help others thrive
We, ourselves and others, learn to be truly alive
Witnessing in all we do faithfully gives credibility
When life is lived to the best of our abilities

In times of life's march of discouragement
Our faith provides our best encouragement
To show our faith in the works that we do
By living our moments sharing God's love in view

These moments centered on others build God's kingdom
By serving by faith as we are, it naturally comes
That we set the example of being Christian in all we do
Living God's lessons plainly into view

The Lord's guidance helps us stand firm
As we walk our moments and learn
Transparent to all in everything that we do
We live God's love in plain view
