Minding God's Own Business
by Michael Doyle
It's how it is that we should live
We find that God has work to give
In an echo of principles, we need clarity
Of what is necessary to enable us to see
To lack in clarity is an act of unkindness
That can only lead us to live in blindness
It is a trap that leads us to meet and exceed
As we are on the path to meeting this predicted need
The impulse of our God is to reach out and save
A fallen humanity from the depths of our graves
Following God's ethics removes life's dysfunction
And brings our sight and ways into corrected function
The Ten Commandments taught us the Godly ways
To lead our lives for God each and every day
Pulling us away from society's sick toxicity
Lifts the yoke of evil from us and sets us free
Boundaries are blessings to be followed in life
By following these rules, we lessen our strife
It takes simplified solutions to remove complications
It has been this way since the onset of creation
The margins of safety are set for our rest
This is the best way to meet our every test
Unlike Christ whose life was to carry our weight
And whose pace made ours a sustainable fate
We dancers dance best to the rhythm of our hearts
That's how we should all be from the living start
Exhausted people exaggerate how they're hurting
While God offers the way to decrease our lives' burden
In Jesus, we find our easy path and ability to rest
While Biblical verbs show the way to pass our tests
Marching out of our Egypt and into Godly freedom
We approach our closest to Christ by entering the kingdom
The heavy lifting in this heavenly relationship
Begins and ends with partaking in righteous worship
Come, take, and learn what there is to discern
Our salvation is given by grace and is not earned
As it is so easily and freely God's to be given
We find that each of us are righteously forgiven
Love for a lifetime is a matter of persistence
And is the sustainable path of God's least resistance
It was the snail's persistence that found the ark
It is in this way, we each make our own kind of mark
Life is not a hurried sprint but a sort of marathon
And in it, we find it's truly God that we all rely on
