Nature and Dignity Earned

Nature and Dignity Earned
by Michael Doyle

There's a quiet in nature
That you won't find in the city
It helps you to think and mature
Learning what is and isn't pretty

This is especially true of the soul
As you learn the value of self-control
Being where you must truly observe
Gives you the outcome that you deserve

The things we wish for mostly come true
However, that is meant for me and you
Or, at least, the truth is felt in traces
Felt deep within as we step into places

That tells us the truth of who we are
As we keep our eyes on the paths and the stars
That leads us one way or another to see
Who exactly we were born to be

We mostly can't help what happens by chance
But we do decide what we make of each circumstance
These are the critical moments that we live
And nature teaches us what we can give

Every misplaced step has a lesson that we learn
Until we become wise enough to amply discern
All that we can as we walk our truth with humility
Grace provides us the way out with our dignity

However much it is that we initially start
Finding ourselves face-to-face within our hearts
With the truths that nature has readily shown
While adding on experiences needed to be known

Gradually, the potential dangers fade away
While places and imprints of beauty stay
When we master ourselves, we become truly free
Nature teaches us to live our lives with dignity
