Eternal Flame

Eternal Flame
by Michael Doyle

Feeling unworthy of God's touch
I felt I was asking too much
Until I heard and then I read
Of the holy things that were said

God of all things came to save
Lifting me from my fated grave
Slowly changing the path that I was on
His loving kindness worked until sin was gone

As the path that was walking
And I became then the man who was talking
Worn down until conformed by His pages
The king of kings is the rock of all ages

I praise Him for setting me free
Salvation and hope became my theology
The God of second chances threw a lifeline
Into a life lived in emotional landmines

In a life born in free-flow violence
The Lion of Judah roared through the silence
To take away feelings of blame and shame
To set me free through His love that came
