A Road of Traveled Story

A Road of Traveled Story
by Michael Doyle

This universe isn't made of cosmic dust
Though we all depend on God as we must
This universe is a road of traveled glory
Each of us has our own part in this story

Given our roles, we respond to duty
Pushing away from the ugly to the beauty
Life, it seems, has its own kind of ways
For each of us to make it through our days

Times can be hard - that's what friends are for
When opportunity knocks, open up that door
There will be challenges, that's for sure
But love is the only real answer and final cure

Sometimes, we'll fly like a broken arrow
That hurts we feel will make choices seem narrow
Decisions hold a crushing weight, depending on fate
Times in life will hold love, and sometimes hate

In the prism of a beautiful mind
It's often the sighted who are blind
We are not imprisoned by seeming choices
We have power in our chosen voices

Times can be hard - that's what friends are for
When opportunity knocks, open up that door
There will be challenges, that's for sure
But love is the only real answer and final cure

Morning surely comes, however the night falls
Light or dark, we crash against our walls
In life's travels, we cry our Gypsy tears
There's true love beyond this veil of years

Some of us have ridden on the Devil's train
Until we have heeded the angels' refrain
A sky full of hope knows God's shine
As sure as I still live, unafraid I will find mine

Times can be hard - that's what friends are for
When opportunity knocks, open up that door
There will be challenges, that's for sure
But love is the only real answer and final cure
