Disaster Spoken

Disaster Spoken
by Michael Doyle

Below the frozen leaves
Rests the haunting memory.
The nocturnal strains man believes
Are what makes for our only certainty.

I'm a shattered soul of Autumn's grief,
And the blood of faith stains my soul.
My black tears of love knows no relief,
Here in a life torn asunder and out of my control.

It's the blood stained tears of chaos
That hold me in its dark alliance.
The sound of silence tells of my loss.
Fear of the dark speaks of broken reliance.

The river flows frozen in its dreaded time.
The scourge of malice weighs me down.
Abandoned by Heaven, it feels infernal, yet sublime.
The tears glisten bitterness bringing their frown.

Demonic dreams are filling my soul every night,
As I dream unseen into an ethereal mist.
Unhallowed, my world will never again be right.
Engraved in black is the something that I have missed.

Thrown as a hammer from the howling void,
Somber tidings burn deep into my broken mind.
The yearning abyss whispers of madness I avoid,
Usurping the starry wisdom left behind.

It's the absurdity of apocryphal gravity
That drowns out the light above from below.
The pressure points explode without levity,
As I realize there is so much that I will never know.
