Turning Points of Resolution

Turning Points of Resolution
by Michael Doyle

Without having so much as a college degree,
Charlie offered the ideals of American philosophy.
Bringing truth to the street of clever error,
It's more than 7 years of bad luck from this broken mirror.

Touching hearts and guiding uninformed minds,
True justice demands more than no one left behind.
This mindless loss is one to the world's shame.
It demands examination, frame by frame.

There is no better place to truly start
Than to engage the young by mind and heart.
The fragility of life is vapidly on display,
Charlie Kirk's voice was stilled this day.

You can smell it in the putrid atmosphere
That has replaced reasoned debate with fear.
We can learn again to have civil, informed debate.
Or we can lose our faith and live in clouded hate.

A high-powered round took Charlie's life -
Fired by a violent thug who lives for strife.
There's a madman on the run again -
Whose malice violently took the nation's friend.

There is no better place to truly start
Than to engage the young by mind and heart.
The fragility of life is vapidly on display,
Charlie Kirk's voice was stilled this day.

Nothing can be sadder than the loss of a dad.
He influenced people through reason, not fad.
No matter how far we pursue the extent of the law,
If half the nation doesn't care or fails to recall

That our nation is based on the rule of law
The murder of free expression isn't all
That we lose as we kill the arbiter of debate.
For the love of God, we must put away our hate.

There is no better place to truly start
Than to engage the young by mind and heart.
The fragility of life is vapidly on display,
Charlie Kirk's voice was stilled this day.

Since when do we kill for limiting the government?
Aren't free markets seen as an improvement?
None of us wins by maintaining a failing status quo,
Not when fuller freedom and liberty are the goal.

It isn't a crime to debate with efficiency.
It isn't a shame to reach out efficiently.
It's not American to promote or use political violence
Words, not violence, are the path if we want benevolence.

There is no better place to truly start
Than to engage the young by mind and heart.
The fragility of life is vapidly on display,
Charlie Kirk's voice was stilled this day.
