Her Song

Her Song
by Michael Doyle

A voice came to me from beyond my screen.
A brown-eyed beauty who loved what she had seen,
She smiled at me with growing anticipation
Suggesting with a smile that we write about creation.

I couldn't help but wonder where she had come from.
So, I asked without much fear of coming across as dumb.
I knew if I knew her life, I would fall into her grace.
I couldn't help but be mesmerized by her beautiful face.

She was a comfortable, familiar stranger
With a vibe of love and not danger.
She knew that I would go along
With anything she wanted in her song.

She loved the poetry in our emotions.
I was falling into her personal ocean.
I felt glad that she wasn't close enough to kiss,
For the fear of what that might cause us to miss.

I know only that I wanted to know her more.
We riffed on creation a little more.
With each note, the song got a little longer.
Honestly, I could only hope her heartbeat a little stronger.

She was a comfortable, familiar stranger
With a vibe of love and not danger.
She knew that I would go along
With anything she wanted in her song.
