A Tale of Happy Winnings

A Tale of Happy Winnings
by Michael Doyle

Somewhere common in the city
And in the heart of a New York City blue,
A good cop found he made his own chances.
The New York City streets were full of romance.

Good luck finds its opportunity.
It's nothing like playing the lottery.
But maybe like a fine romance,
Every miracle begins with taking a chance.

Flirtatious banter begins the talk.
It moves the hustle behind the walk.
A shining of life's tales is worth the share,
And so it is that two start to care.

Day after day becomes its drudgery
When life is stumbled through without mastery.
It's enough to make you play the lottery,
But the proof of playing that are like a small luxury.

Until the day comes and you have won,
But it's never enough when it's done.
Sharing is caring until your word gets in the way.
It's like finding miracles while forgetting why you pray.

Every day is the worst until you remember to smile.
It's just one of those things that gone out of style.
But it makes you want to hang on tight.
There's a silent lucidity to doing things right.

The niceties of life make the world go around
As you search for the pleasure in what you found.
Still, it is that you hang onto your dreams
Until the reality lived in is as good as it seems.

Promises are promises, that's understood.
It's the keeper of promises that makes life good.
It's the acceptance of bliss that becomes gratitude.
This then is how to live the right attitude.
