Like My Dream Child

Like My Dream Child
by Michael Doyle

It feels chaotic, sight unseen,
Falling for another human being.
Passion is a burning thing.
But for some, a voice adds up to nothing.

Love is an awesome journey,
As you tell me of your destiny.
You say you want what's inside,
The things that most of us try to hide.

You thrill me like my dream child,
You love in abandon, but not so wild.
I feel like you're my walking dream.
And me? I'm just another human being.

Overthinking, as I often do,
Has scared me away from making true
My desire finds it is free in you.
Your voice tells me that it's true.

A connection through the heart,
It is the most beautiful way to start.
Love in the smile of conversation
Brings two together in their destination.

You thrill me like my dream child,
You love in abandon, but not so wild.
I feel like you're my walking dream.
And me? I'm just another human being.

Cast aside through our preconception,
Or can there be a true connection?
With you, there was no such decision.
Cupid's arrow hit me with precision.

You're living proof of miracles every day.
I guess to explain it in yet another way,
I've found it in the magic of your birthday.
We'd not have met any other way.

You thrill me like my dream child,
You love in abandon, but not so wild.
I feel like you're my walking dream.
And me? I'm just another human being.

From the moments of our first date,
I have found that we truly resonate.
It might be something as simple as fate.
But loving you is something that won't wait.

There's a lot to be said for honesty.
It moves my heart beyond just the quality.
I hear the hints and traces of familiarity,
And honestly, I can picture our future family.

You thrill me like my dream child,
You love in abandon, but not so wild.
I feel like you're my walking dream.
And me? I'm just another human being.
