“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.” – Tecumseh
This past Saturday, using a connecting trail off the Wabash Heritage Trail, I hiked the Prophet’s Rock trail past where the Prophet encouraged the Native American warriors to fight to preserve their lands. Afterward, following seven miles or so of hiking on this and part of the Heritage Trail, I visited multiple parts of Prophetstown State Park. It was a little early to catch the area in Spring bloom, but it was still thought-provoking. Being of mixed heritage, it was meaningful to me. Let me know if anyone would like the photos, please.
