An Appreciation Recognized

An Appreciation Recognized
by Michael Doyle

Spoken with some adherence
Is the preacher's insistence
Only the Holy Spirit needs to appear
For the ears willing to hear

Other churches are our family
With eyes joined on the holy
We live this walk in celebration
As we spread our faith across this nation

Word and worship are our mission
The love of God is our position
As we sing ourselves a new song
With joined hands, we are where we belong

Growing faith is our witness
Our joy comes through our persistence
We follow the leadership of the spirit
And we follow the Word as we best hear it

We are pastored in our calling
To keep us from ever falling
Growing together as one family
Let's set our eyes on all that is Holy

Happy Thanksgiving 2024!!

Aloha Promises Forever wishes each and everyone of its readers and their families and friends a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving 2024!!

How do you spend your Thanksgiving Day? For my family, we do our very best to always catch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This started when I was a small child and military dependent. We were living in the Philippines and I was maybe 3-4 years old is my earliest recollection of this. It has always been a time of feasting starting with a breakfast of cheeses, salami, pepperoni and treats like this as we watch the parade.

Many of you will spend the day catching up with friends and relatives and take in a football game. Others might be watching the annual dog show. But let’s all share at least one thing in common, please. Take a moment and think back on your year and maybe even today, and verbalize at least one thing that you are grateful for. Some of us have more to be grateful than others. But all of us have at least one thing that makes this a moment that we can thank God for, right? For me, the big one on my list are my two daughters who are sitting in the living room as I type this doing some homework. They are my blessings and I love them more than life. The youngest one even spent a moment teaching and sharing with my eldest and I some German vocabulary words that she was assigned to teach. I love how smart and wonderful my daughters are! Thank you Lord for each of them.

What about you folks out there? Care to share a bit of what makes your world all the more wonderful? We’d love to hear it!

Thought For the Day: Cultivate the Habit of Being Grateful For Every Good Thing That Comes To You, and To Give Thanks Continuously

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

To Make A Man Invincible

To Make A Man Invincible
by Michael Doyle

You know that a moon full of madness
And a heart filled with sadness
Ain't never done any man no good
From that gun in your hand
It seems you just might understand
Your eyes say it is understood

Riding hard after midnight
I see your fear under the moonlight
Like you've the ghosts of your past
All the times that didn't last
Tell me now, what has you running
Is it that you're always outgunning

You; the fastest you can draw
Do you hear your fears call?
As your eyes are squinting in the sun?
How many men did you kill with that gun?
Do you hear their trembling voices
Or were they merely choices?

There's only one thing to truly regret
That to keep a simple secret
Out of three men, two men must be dead
That keeps stirring in the gunman's head
The silence of that which is invisible
Is the faith that makes a man feel invincible
