Thought For the Day: To See A World In A Grain of Sand, and A Heaven In A Wild Flower, Hold Infinity In the Palm of Your Hand, And Eternity In An Hour

“To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.”

Macy’s 99th Thanksgiving Day Parade

Macy's 99th Thanksgiving Day Parade
by Michael Doyle

A slight smile replaces my poker face
As I rush with everyone to find my place.
This beautiful parade of yours and mine
Comes just like an early Valentine.

A little special love shines our way,
Brought to us from Macy's on Thanksgiving Day.
Balloons are the only inflation that we love
As we watch the characters float above.

They say this is the 99th anniversary.
This excitement doesn't need unnecessary controversy.
In my life, from boy to man,
I might qualify as some kind of super fan.

From Felix the Cat to places to explore,
There's always room for at least one more.
Starting from zoos around for the Christmas Season,
If you need to smile, Macy's has its reasons.

As the Cuban band plays out its second chances,
Romance in this city gives cause to dance.
Infectious in rhythm, we hear the glory,
Lost in love with its musical stories.

Watching Radio City Rockettes kick it out,
This joy from New York City removed all doubt.
Elves make snow angels in powders of gran flour.
It feels like 60 magical moments in every hour.

Ragtime memories whisper of veneration
In Broadway memories of those generations.
I watch, still filled with childlike bliss
Filling each moment with an absurdity of happiness.

The commercials end in time for Mack the Knife
As we look back on yesterday's slice of life.
Dancing shoes are needed on this street.
No one can stop the feeling of our dancing feet

Tom Turkey strutted across Herald Square
As big brothers and sisters take the dare,
Just in time for another marching band
To meet this season's flow and demand.

The best of life's stories began here
With our laughter replacing any fear.
With a world to explore, a circus is made
The passion flows across free and unafraid.

Even Elmo is tickled by the pumpkin pie.
No one on Sesame Street wonders why.
It's a sunny but freezing kind of day.
I suppose that's fitting for Thanksgiving's way.

Another supposition is that it fits the festivity
That Macy's focused on the fine art of inclusivity.
The Green Giant reminded us all of what's good,
And with a wink and a nudge, it became understood.

This year, I am without my beautiful daughters,
And reminded of what it is to be a divorced father.
There is a little light refusing to go out inside of me.
It's their love that always shines so brightly.

Of course, Disney was along for the ride,
The biggest thing missing was patriotic pride.
Still, the story told is of American culture
With plenty of good things that we love to nurture.

Art and the canvas are worked within the design.
One float at a time, and its just fine.
Quietly, I slowly turned off my phone
And continued to enjoy my unmanaged time alone.

Kool and the Gang reminded us it's a celebration
As Thanksgiving was spread across the nation.
Soon the turkey will be a stuck fork called done,
And soon after that, I'll be the stuffed one.

Smokey the Bear was on parade against forest fires
And Snoopy's legacy still fills us with childlike desire.
There's probably nothing more American than this parade.
It's made up of ingenuity and our dreams made.

This living work of art spirals with a familiarity
That for 99 years has been right for the family.
Block by block, this is a clockwork memory.
I'd watch it forever quite happily.

Thank goodness so few others would change these ways.
Not here. Nor there. This is part of Thanksgiving Day.
Stranger things happen but they should not.
This is a day of love that should never be forgot.

I am thankful for all that I hear and see.
So I say thank you the network, NBC.
They bring his parade to you and me,
And all my life this has helped keep me happy.

In the end, sheep carry us to sleep.
This parade is about to get Santa deep.
Returning full circle to Christmas dreams,
It turns out that Santa is as real as he seems.

Sometimes, I love these ivory towers.
They pack so much magic into these past hours.
All this beautiful song and magical dance
Brings warmth, giving Thanksgiving and Christmas their chance.

Happy Thanksgiving To One and All!!

As families gather across the nation, and our military families may gather overseas, I wish everyone a joyful, Happy Thanksgiving 2025! We are grateful and give thanks to the Lord, God Almighty above us all, for the love and goodness we have found and shared.

Thought For the Day: I Give Thanks To My Creator For This Wonderful Life Where Each of Us Has the Opportunity To Learn Lessons We Could Not Fully Comprehend By Any Other Means

First Principles: Let Us Remember That, As Much As Has Been Given Us, Much Will Be Expected From Us…True Homage…Shows Itself In Deeds

“Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Madami III

Madami III
by Michael Doyle

Madami is the Democratic Socialist poster child.
They've hijacked the Democrats into a party gone wild.
Processing the hubris of communism and derision,
These scandals swim through the cesspools of division.

This is the long game of total determination
By a group of people to undermine our Constitution.
They proclaim no kings while destroying private property.
If they win, it's the end of our American republic's history

Like roaches from the dark, the Socialists emerge,
Without enough fight back, the Socialists surge.
We must speak up and counter the enemies we know,
Or we will find our country taken from within the shadows.

Tied in with the American ideal of prosperity
Is the right to the pursuit of private property.
The DSA's principles are touted as progressive evolution.
It can only come about by total and complete revolution.

History has shown Communism's many failures time and again.
It is in no way workable as the People's friend.
The socialist surge is a cancer that will lead to starvation
And the total collapse of this, our American nation.

Like roaches from the dark, the Socialists emerge,
Without enough fight back, the Socialists surge.
We must speak up and counter the enemies we know,
Or we will find our country taken from within the shadows.

Karl Marx made the not-so-good less than astute induction
That fools are the tools of seizing power through revolution.
The thing is that it only leads to tragic devastation,
And such destruction doesn't create a better nation.

Masquerading as a network of non-profits in nihilistic extension
The DSA is a grandstand of artifice and impure invention.
The DSA, seeking America's destruction, is growing
Funded through charities without the cheerful givers knowing.

Like roaches from the dark, the Socialists emerge,
Without enough fight back, the Socialists surge.
We must speak up and counter the enemies we know,
Or we will find our country taken from within the shadows.

Social media might gloss this over as having decency,
With its smiling faces coming off as somewhat classy,
But the truth is that what is happening is harming
Society and every believer in freedom. This should be alarming.

Despite the seeming surety of freedom's resilience,
We must face down the ranks of the Red and Green Alliance.
It has spread globally in an attempt to defeat the West.
I, for one, contend that our civilization is the best.

Like roaches from the dark, the Socialists emerge,
Without enough fight back, the Socialists surge.
We must speak up and counter the enemies we know,
Or we will find our country taken from within the shadows.

First Principles: It Is the Duty of All Nations To Acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, To Obey His Will, To Be Grateful For His Benefits, and Humbly Implore His Protection and Favour

“WHEREAS it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint Committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANKSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.” – George Washington (1789)

Thought For the Day: I Will Not Allow My Life’s Light To Be Determined By the Darkness Around Me

“Life is a hard battle anyway. If we laugh and sing a little as we fight the good fight of freedom, it makes it all go easier. I will not allow my life’s light to be determined by the darkness around me.” – Sojourner Truth

Madami II

Madami II
by Michael Doyle

There is a creeping conspiracy of making up lies
To make society's driving forces into bad guys.
Most of the rich in America worked to get there.
To believe otherwise is a sad game of stoking fear.

The Havana Model will sink the entrepreneurial class,
And make fools of workers who should have taken a pass.
False promises consolidate the niches of true power,
Reaming the middle class as red rage openly devours.

Like roaches from the dark, the Socialists emerge,
Without enough fight back, the Socialists surge.
We must speak up and counter the enemies we know,
Or we will find our country taken from within the shadows.

Ask Venezuela about government-owned groceries.
Any astute observer will find shelves full of empty.
Sex change operations and funding illegal immigration?
Tell me again how this is good for the nation.

Mandami and his cronies say sex work should be supported.
Any babies from this can simply be handily aborted.
Posturing like a chameleon doesn't make him less of a snake,
But it does confuse the people about what's at stake.

Like roaches from the dark, the Socialists emerge,
Without enough fight back, the Socialists surge.
We must speak up and counter the enemies we know,
Or we will find our country taken from within the shadows.

He's on record saying he reflects what people want to hear.
This high-gloss answer is exactly what the people should fear.
The cost of his tragic programs will empty police departments,
When the criminals come, who will arrive to save your apartments?

Social Services won't stop a madman with his gun.
Free condoms and terrible advice won't save anyone.
Defund and dismantle cannot be walked back -
But what will the people do when protection is what they lack?

Globalizing the Intifada is no way to run a city.
That Madami doesn't know this is more than just a pity.
Arrogance leading the charge of sheer ignorance
Is not a path toward any form of wise governance.

First Principles: The Constitution Enjoins An Oath Upon All the Officers of the United States. This Is A Direct Appeal To That God Who Is the Avenger of Perjury

“The Constitution enjoins an oath upon all the officers of the United States. This is a direct appeal to that God Who is the avenger of perjury. Such an appeal to Him is a full acknowledgement of His being and providence.” – Oliver Wolcott
