“Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received – only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.“– St. Francis of Assisi

” There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” – Ephesians 4:4-6

Madison On Government
by Michael Doyle
Troubled times seem to be surrounding
With more demons than angels abounding
Madison found this reason for government
I don't see any real further improvement
The truth remains that government is power
With tiny tyrants clutching at their hour
Big words do not make for better philosophy
This thought seems to constantly claw at me
Despite advancing science and information
We still struggle for freedom in this nation
Some folks argue with enforced silence
Others offer up their extreme violence
Only a few seem to take the time to hear
What our fellow citizens hope and fear
Most only want to get their own sense of way
With their intolerance always on display
It seems our republic has been taken from within
Those protesting this only appear now and then
And when they do, they are quickly shouted down
It seems any moment, tyranny will wear its crown
We have the standing army and enslaved press
Add a disarmed populace, and we will have a mess
We can see what the tyrannizers seek to organize
We see it before our eyes for all to recognize
While the Left seeks to win their total revolution
Others hold tight to this republic's Constitution
Both sides would do much better if they'd recall
Madison said this nation was founded on God's laws

“The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded.” – James Madison

Dinkʼinesh
by Michael Doyle
In mankind's efforts to stand upright
Turning from darkness toward the light
We've contended a few bones along the way
Just enough really for the right to say
From tree dwelling to learning to walk
On two legs, we became positioned to talk
Chipped bones became a confused religiosity
As the faithful unfold their humanity
Still, we wonder at all the tales told
While the wisest wink at beliefs sold
Knowing the cross-stitched pieces of wood
Could have built an ark where it stood
All in making bones of mankind's dignity
Much of our story is simply legendary
Stories told are made to fit the history
Made up with leaps of fancy to fill in the mystery
Marvelous Lucy, she learned to walk
As footprints stepped into the story we talk
Each step telling how mankind came to be
While whispers reveal this fable's complexity
Impossible monsters lost in a sea of chaos
Pave the road home through humanity's loss
In the chains of changes that map the consequence
As some find God's place is one of obsolescence
Bishop books were said to be replaced by dinosaur bones
While God and angels were removed from thrones
And now as the twenty-first century has fallen apart
We learn once again we need God to have a whole heart
Haunted by our darkness, we are lost, yet not lost
As with every moment we painfully pay the hidden costs
Of turning our backs to truth by playing our own gods
The holy persons and repentant sinners both this odd
Glassy eyes stared into the abyss and shamefully found
Society's transformation couldn't have been more profound
Throwing away age-old truth based on half-missing fragments
Waiting on judgment day, we know these simple sentiments

“The only advice anybody can give is, if you wanna be a writer, keep writing. And read all you can, read everything.” – Stan Lee

“A democracy is a volcano which conceals the fiery materials of its own destruction. These will produce an eruption and carry desolation in their way.” – Fisher Ames
I really dislike when I hear any American political leader mislead the public into believing we live in a “democracy”. We live in a republic under the rule of law.

All the Wicked Men
by Michael Doyle
So many times I have searched for peace
Looking for peace in the faraway
All the wicked men – have thoughts of war
As the Centre of their Maps –
Myself a struggled slacker- set out to prove
That it’s not so hopeless as I –
If only we let go of greed for foreign shores –
And stay in the safe harbors of love

“Our liberty depends on our education, our laws, and habits . . . it is founded on morals and religion, whose authority reigns in the heart, and on the influence all these produce on public opinion before that opinion governs rulers.” – Fisher Ames
